Professional Review

This game is about a team of brave pirates who fight against multiple enemies on different islands. Relive original anime comic books with this game, become a part of that world and have fun with playing different characters and watching bonkers special effects. You can download One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Microsoft Windows, and Nintendo Switch.

Graphics: 3

The animation in this game is cartoon-like, rather simple, not detailed and not sophisticated enough. I think it would be better if it was just all cartoons because in this graphics the characters have dead eyes. Maybe it was an intention of game’s creators because the game, in general, is light and funny, ridiculous at times. Heroes have different power effects - they blow up, they burn, they stretch, they fly which makes the games very graphic and interesting to look at.

Gameplay: 3

There are three game modes available: Legend Log (main storyline), Dream Log (additional story) and Nightmare Log (a harder version of Dream Log once it’s finished). The game pretty closely matches original manga story with some additional non-harming the plot details. There are 37 playable characters here, 27 from old ones and 10 new ones, like Sabo, which game fans were expecting so much.

It has some of the old games’ inserts and videos which makes it easier to understand if you’re not familiar with One Piece universe. The videos are played only if you achieve something with a specific character. Each level looks pretty much the same and it takes a long time to complete it.

Controls: 5

From this One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3 review, you’ve already learned that it’s a fighting game where you have to move and use your powers to beat crowds of enemies. There are light attack, heavy attack and unique actions available for each character. So there not much to talk about controls - just remember those buttons and smash them as fast as you can or die.

Replay Value: 2

Some of the islands take too much time to play. Some of the locations are too long and too difficult to finish, the labyrinth for example. Everything is repetitive and become boring and annoying at some point, only true fans enjoy that.

This game is mainly for anime-lovers - the person not coming from that world probably won’t appreciate it as much. Amazing time-killer game - typical for this game genre, so be ready. At the same time very entertaining and unusual game comparing to mainstream ones. A lot of variety in everything: characters, scenes, movie clips, effects, and music. Not overwhelming graphics though and game tasks.

With downloading One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3 you might either become a fan of this Japanese manga universe or dislike it even more.
